The Nigerian Communications Commission
(NCC), Nigeria's Telecom regulator is a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Communications. The
commission was established by the Decree No. 75 of 1992 that deregulated
the telecommunications industry in Nigeria and charged it with regulating
private telecommunications services, promoting fair competition as
well as facilitating entry into the telecommunications market.
The
NCC is responsible for licencing and registering private telecommunications
concerns in Nigeria. NCC undertakings include ensuring private sector
provision and operation of Value added Network Services such as the
Internet and Paging services.

The Nigeria Internet Group (NIG)
is a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) dedicated to the
promotion and growth of the Internet in Nigeria. We are a member
only organization, with membership open to all who are interested in
the growth of the Internet technology, irrespective of educational
background and current field of employment.
Membership includes the academia, non-governmental organizations,
government parastatals, Internet Service Providers, private
organizations and individuals.

The aims of the association shall be the advancement of Computer Science
and Technology, Computer Applications and Professionals Practice.
It shall seek to confer valuable professional advantages and privileges,
impose professional responsibilities on her members and encourage
them to support work which is important to the general community and
the profession at large.
The objectives of the association shall be as follows:
1) To promote the training of Computer Scientist, Engineers and Professionals.
2) To actively encourage research in the Advancement of Computer Science,
Technology and Practice and, specialists and the public.
3) To promote the interchange of information about the sciences and
arts of information processing among specialists and the public.
4) To develop the competence of and encourage integrity in individuals
engaged in the practice of the computing profession.
5) To matters affecting the computing profession.
6) To co-operate with similar professional organisations throughout
the world, and to render or reciprocate such services as are beneficial
to and consistent with the aims and objectives of the Association.

NITPA's mission is to use indigenous Nigerian professional skills
